As you know, Xerox faced the need to maintain full operation of its' Document University while removing nearly 300,000 square feet of ceiling tiles containing asbestos from it's classrooms, laboratories and dormitory areas. Each area had to have the ceiling tiles safely removed and new ceilings installed when the rooms were not being used. For the training spaces, that meant working at night.

Southern Insulation, incorporated provided us with an affordable and highly efficient method of asbestos abatement which met our customers' requirements. We were able to maintain full operation during the entire project, and reduced the initial project scope from 3 years and 10 million dollars to approximately 1 year and less than 1.5 million dollars.

Your Portable isolation Enclosure (P.I.E.) system provided Xerox Document University with a desirable alternative to conventional asbestos abatement methods. The P.I.E.s were quickly moved into designated work areas and assembled for use in less than twenty minutes. After completion of the areas, the units were easily disassembled and the new ceilings could be installed. Most importantly, the system was safe for building occupants.

Based upon this project, I am convinced that the P.I.E. system, and the work that your crews provided with it, is a very efficient technique for the removal of ACM ceilings from an occupied facility. The process reduced the anticipated project time and cost substantially and offered excellent flexibility to tailor the project to meet our constantly changing customer needs.

I would like to commend you and your organization for a job that was well done and I have no hesitation in recommending the Portable Isolation Enclosure be considered for use in occupied buildings.
